Public Affairs Index (PAI) 2020

The Public Affairs Index (PAI 2020) is a scientifically rigorous, data-based framework that measures the quality of governance at the subnational level and ranks the states and Union Territories (UTs) of India on a Composite Index (CI). States are classified into two categories- large and small- using population as the criteria.

Public Affairs Index (PAI) 2016

The first edition of PAI ranked the states of India on the basis of 10 broad themes, spread across 25 focus subjects and focusing on 68 individual indicators. The report also incorporated a study on Sentiment Analysis.

Public Affairs Index (PAI) 2017

The 2017 edition of PAI was similar to the 2016 edition and had 10 themes, 26 focus subjects and 82 indicators. This edition, however also included a new study on Inequality, which focused on the extent of the gap existing between the various strata of society from an economic, social and gender perspectives.

Public Affairs Index (PAI) 2018

PAI 2018 report is similar to the earlier PAI reports; however, the 2018 edition comprised of 10 broad themes, 30 focus subjects and a gamut of 100 indicators. In addition, the report includes a special chapter on the Children of India that describes in detail the various issues concerning our most vulnerable citizens - the children of India.

Public Affairs Index (PAI) 2019

PAI 2019 explores governance in the states as a broad process that can potentially democratise development, expand economic and social opportunities and contribute in significant ways towards a more sustainable and equitable growth path for India.
