Prof. K. Gayithri Karnam is a public finance economist and policy researcher with over three decades of experience in public expenditure management, fiscal policy, government budgeting, and public sector performance assessment. She is Professor at the Centre for Economic Studies and Policy (CESP), Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC), Bengaluru. Her research has contributed extensively to fiscal reforms and expenditure management at both the Union and State Government levels, including studies for the Finance Commissions, Planning Commission, and the Government of Karnataka. She has also advised international development agencies such as USAID and DFID on state fiscal management, public financial management, and public sector reforms.
