Preparation of Green Manifesto to Address the Issues of Coastal Communities in Tamil Nadu

Project Goal

Mobilising communities by creating awareness and sensitizing political parties towards green agenda through networking of organizations and individuals to ensure their commitment towards environmental protection and conservation.

Project Objectives

To sensitize the communities of coastal areas on the need and the means of addressing the environmental issues in order to safeguard their lives and livelihoods.
To bring together various other actors concerned about environmental issues to be able to collectively influence the mainstream polity.
To sensitize the political parties in Tamil Nadu towards environmental issues in the coastal areas of the state and to negotiate their commitment in addressing the same.
To develop and test a framework for ranking the political manifestos on how “green” they are.
To develop a framework for monitoring the post election implementation of the ‘green manifesto’
