Empowering the Cutting Edges
The project Empowering the Cutting Edges - Strengthening Civic Engagement in Development Interventions was envisaged in the context of two landmark acts passed by the Indian parliament, namely NREGA and RTI. These two acts are aimed at increasing and improving the scope of civic engagement and community participation in the decision making process. However, there are bottlenecks at various levels as various studies had exemplified. The current project is a small step towards realizing the goals of NREGA, RTI and PDS by providing impetus to the community participation through social audit survey and advocacy.
To demonstrate the process of conducting comprehensive and effective social audits with respect to the NREGA
To identify reform and advocacy agenda from the social audit findings and work with community groups on furthering this agenda.
For this PAC through its partner organisations in Orissa and Chhattisgarh has undertaken social audits of NREGS, RTI and PDS. Grassroots CSOs capacity was enhanced regarding social audit toolkits through PAC training.
