Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS)

The PPRG has developed a full-fledged proposal to evaluate the MGNREGS from the viewpoint of the labor economics literature, which has not been addressed thus far in the numerous evaluations of the program thus far. With funding assistance from the IDRC’s TTI, the PPRG is now getting ready to do a pilot of the proposed work in a district of Karnataka. A full-fledged literature survey on existing evaluations of MGNREGS has been done, and the team has conducted a pilot survey of the scheme in Chitradurga district, Karnataka.
