Objectives of Public Affairs Centre's Research
Public Affairs Centre’s research is directed towards improving the quality of various public services. Public Affairs Centre (PAC) aims through research to create greater awareness among both government agencies who are the major service providers and citizens who are the users of these services. PAC's research objective is also to enable institutions of civil society to access key issues and identify action areas.
PAC uses the findings of its research to inform the public and to encourage and support collective action of citizen groups to improve accountability and performance in governance.
PAC’s uniqueness lies in blending research and citizen action to produce the desired results. Therefore, PAC's research aims to provide a stimulus for action through knowledge derived from scientific surveys; action compliments research and generates valuable inputs from the field.
Over the years PAC’s research has led to a series of Citizen Report Cards (CRCs). Other research has focused on key issues in governance such as corruption, municipal budgets, human rights, ect.. Recently, PAC's research has also expanded significantly to cover for example irrigation services and Bhoomi Kiosks in Karnataka.
